It might have been snowy in the South Korean capital Seoul but, on the southern shipbuilding haven of Geoje Island in late December, the sun was out for MOL and China Cosco Shipping to name their first Arc7 LNG newbuilding for the Yamal LNG project.
The Vladimir Rusanov, in a similar fashion to 13 of the other ice-breaking LNG carriers for Yamal, takes its name from the Russian Arctic geologist who explored the region around Novaya Zemlya and the Kara Strait in the early 1900s.
