LNG charter rates look set to improve starting in the third quarter on the back of a demand pull for product from Asian buyers, according to broker Simpson Spence Young (SSY).
LNG broker Phillip Tripodakis said current LNG pricing indicates that US cargo shut-ins may continue up to September.
“We do expect a significant numbers of August cancellations by US offtake players and we have already seen some portfolio players release length on a forward basis for end July and August loadings,” he said during a webinar hosted by senior director of SSY Futures Duncan Dunn alongside several of his colleagues,.
