South Korea’s Sinokor Merchant Marine is being named as the shipowner behind a mystery quartet of LNG carrier newbuildings at shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries.
A brokers’ report and numerous sources who follow the newbuilding market closely have linked Sinokor to an order that SHI reported at the end of last month.
At the time, the yard priced the four ships at KRW 870bn ($774m), indicating a per-unit price of nearly $194m — a rise on the sub-$190m levels seen in recent deals.
