An LNG carrier has gone into Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine shipyard for conversion into a floating storage and regasification unit for what could be the world’s first floating gas-to-power project.
Tracking data show that the MOL-controlled, 127,000-cbm LNG carrier Dwiputra (built 1994) arrived at the yard on 25 December, after exiting lay-up in the region.
A first for yard
Those following the business said this will be the first conversion of an LNG carrier into an FSRU for Sembcorp Marine.
