An LNG carrier has arrived with a second cooldown cargo for the under-commissioning Ichthys LNG plant at Darwin in northern Australia.
LNG flow forecaster iGIS/LNG said the 160,000-cbm Asia Excellence (built 2015) is now at the Ichthys facility amid signs that the LNG production may now be ready for full start-up.
Lead shareholder Japan’s Inpex declined to confirm these details but told Tradewinds: “As we move closer to start-up of our onshore facilities, we are importing a second cargo of LNG to ensure that we keep the storage and loading facilities cold, at around minus 163 degrees Celsius."
