Suffering VLGC owners will be hoping the sector has turned the corner after spot rates picked up this week in line with better demand.

The Baltic Exchange's VLGC index hit $31.07 per tonne on Wednesday, equating to $10,363 per day for gas carriers, a little above operating expenses.

This was a rise of nearly 26% from Tuesday, a welcome upturn following a precipitous slump from $114,000 at the beginning of the year.
