Japan’s NYK Line has ordered a third 86,700-cbm VLGC at Kawasaki Heavy Industries for delivery in 2024.
NYK Line did not disclose the value of the newbuilding contract.
Broker Clarksons estimates the price of a conventional VLGC carrier to be about $85m.
NYK said, similar to its two earlier VLGC orders, which were contracted last year, that the vessel will have the capability of carrying both ammonia and LPG cargoes in separate cargo tanks.
