Russian energy giant Novatek is setting up a joint venture to order LNG-fuelled icebreakers and other ships for the Arctic.
The company said it was teaming up with nuclear agency Rosatom for a long-term partnership to jointly develop and finance a fleet to support its operations along the Northern Sea Route (NSR).
It will also look to build port vessels and supply ships.
