Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and its partners have taken delivery of what is believed to be Japan’s first LNG-fuelled coastal bulker in a ceremony in Imabari.
The 6,550-gt Ise Mirai (built 2020) was built at Japanese shipbuilder Higaki Shipbuilding's Namikata shipyard and is owned by three companies.
These comprise MOL subsidiary MOL Coastal Shipping, Chubu Electric Power’s energy servicing subsidiary Techno Chubu and coastal shipowner Kyodokaiun.
