Engine designer MAN Energy Solutions plans to deliver its first ammonia dual-fuelled engine later this year for a vessel being built in Japan and expects the units will be more widely available to customers from 2027.
MAN ES chief executive Uwe Lauber told Reuters on Friday that this first vessel will need to undergo trials and ammonia bunkering infrastructure has to be developed.
