LNG rates have hit a new weekly high, driven by continued strong demand out of Asia.
"LNG shipping rates have now made new record highs each of the last three weeks and are up 90% compared to early October," Deutsche Bank analyst Amit Mehrotra wrote today in a note to clients.
He notes in particular that TFDE (tri-fuel electric diesel propulsion) LNG carriers are up another 12% to $190,000 per day and spot rates are up 180% year-over year on the back of Asia demand.
