Japan has launched a feasibility study which will look into the feasibility of LNG bunkering in the port of Yokohama.
The Ministry for Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) will head up a steering committee for the project which will be the first of its kind in Japan.
Other members of the committee will include Tokyo Gas, NYK Line, Yokohama Kawasaki International Port Co, Yokohama City Office, The Agency for Natural Resources and Energy and the Japan Coast Guard
MLIT said it is aiming at the establishment of a LNG bunkering hub in Yokohama in a bid to harmonize with other environmentally advanced ports in the region.
