Operations at the Soma LNG import terminal in Fukushima have been suspended following a major earthquake off Japan late on Saturday.

Japan Petroleum Exploration Co (JAPEX) said it was assessing the damage to the facility and that the timing of a resumption of operations had not yet been determined.

“After the earthquake, the terminal operation has been suspended for safety confirmation, and the supply of LNG managed at the terminal has been also suspended,” it said.
