French membrane-type designer GTT has won approvals in principle from classification society DNV for designs relating to a liquefied hydrogen (LH2) carrier.
Paris-listed GTT said the AiPs are for the design of the membrane type containment system and the preliminary concept design.
The company said the approvals are part of the cooperation agreement signed with Shell International Trading & Shipping Co in February to develop the designs for a mid-size LH2 carrier, and pave the way for the next stages of the project.
