Shipowner Golar LNG is ratcheting up efforts to liberate its laid-up LNG carrier 125,000-cbm Gandria (built 1977) and tee up its second conversion for a floating LNG (FLNG) unit as its first floater nears a yard exit.
Layup provider Safe Haven Maritime tells TradeWinds that Golar made two failed attempts to secure the vessel at the end of May.
The company reports that two privately chartered vessels, the first carrying 40 heavily armed and various uniformed men claiming to be police and the second with Golar associate Ivan Casier onboard, approached the Gandria claiming to be acting on behalf of Golar Management, Norway.
