Donald Trump could disrupt a recovery in the LNG shipping market if he turns his sights on the commodity as a trade war with China escalates, GasLog fears.
LNG has so far not been included on Trump’s tariff sheet but with a new round of charges now threatened the risks are growing.
Paul Wogan, chief executive of GasLog, says inclusion of LNG in any trade war could interfere with pricing and deter buyers just as freight rates are recovering from a multi-year slump.
