A 30-year-old steam turbine LNG carrier has been sold for demolition, marking the first scrap sale for this sector in 2023.
Brokers initially said Bangladeshi buyers paid $643 per ldt for Seapeak’s 89,880-cbm Seapeak Arctic (ex-Arctic Spirit, built 1993). However, this was later updated with cash buyer Wirana Shipping Corp saying the vessel would be heading to Alang for Hong Kong Convention compliant recycling.
