Exmar is now part of the group looking to develop a ballast-free LNG carrier, according to LNG membrane maker GTT.
The Euronext-listed Exmar will join GTT, Lloyd's Register and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) in the second phase of the joint development project known as 30,000-cbm B-Free LNG carrier.
The first phase of the project developed a new design of ballast-free medium-sized LNG carrier, fully compliant with the new International Maritime Organisation rules on ballast water management, and using membrane containment systems.
