Shipping giant China Cosco Shipping has debuted in the VLGC sector by purchasing Chinese-built 83,000-cbm Gas Aries (built 2016).
Its subsidiary Cosco Shipping Investment (Dalian) has bought the Jiangnan-built gas carrier from Chinese LPG carrier owner Tianjin Southwest Maritime (TSM) and will rename the ship Chang Xing Yuan.
An official at Cosco Shipping Investment confirmed the acquisition and said the company plans to add more VLGC to its fleet.
