Four French companies spearheaded by liner giant CMA CGM are joining forces on a project that could see the first bio-LNG production in a French port that would offer supply to the shipping industry.
CMA CGM is working with waste treatment plant operator Evere, Engie’s LNG terminal operator Elengy and energy major TotalEnergies to study the feasibility of converting the biodegradable household material from the Marseille Provence region
“Bio-LNG would allow for the decarbonisation of shipping services departing from the Grand Port Maritime in Marseille and would be used primarily for the CMA CGM Group’s LNG-powered vessels,” the liner company said.
