Shipbuilder China Merchants Heavy Industry-Jiangsu (CMHI-Jiangsu) is joining the ranks of domestic yards that will be able to target full-size LNG carrier construction.
CMHI-Jiangsu, a subsidiary of China Merchants Industry Holdings, has signed a technical assistance and licence agreement with GTT for the construction of the French designer’s membrane-type cargo containment systems.
GTT said CMHI-Jiangsu began the licencing process earlier this year and obtained the final agreement at its containment system mock-up completion ceremony held on 10 October.
