US producer Cheniere Energy plans to seize the opportunity presented by the Trump administration to secure expansion permits for its existing two LNG projects that would double its output to 90 mtpa.

Speaking on the fourth-quarter results call, chief executive Jack Fusco said his company is engaged with the new administration in Washington DC.

Cheniere is optimistic for a “more clear, transparent and predictable permitting and regulatory regime”, so it can “build and operate more LNG capacity the world so clearly needs for decades to come”, he said.
