Spot rates for LNG carriers followed the tanker market with fresh surges this week, as charterers searched for a prompt ship to fit their requirements in a winter market where LNG volumes are growing.
Brokers said a steam-turbine ship had been fixed at a six-figure rate of just over $100,000 per day to a Chinese charterer for a month-long period, with options to extend the hire.
