Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) has raked in LPG carrier newbuilding orders from two European companies worth close to $200m.
France's Geogas Trading and Greece’s Brave Maritime have each booked two 40,000-cbm LPG ships at the South Korean yard, shipbuilding and ship-management sources in Asia and Europe said.
Brave Maritime's orders are part of a wider expansion that saw the company's founder, Nikolaos Vafias, spend about $260m over the past two months, and not just on gas carriers but on handysize bulkers and an aframax tanker as well.
