British oil giant BP has agreed a deal to buy LNG from an ExxonMobil-operated gas project in Papua New Guinea.
News of the new five-year contract was confirmed by Australian-listed Oil Search Ltd, which is a partner in the development.
BP Singapore has agreed to take about 450,000t of LNG per annum over an initial three-year period, rising to about 900,000 tonnes for the following two years.
