London’s Baltic Exchange has unveiled details of its new LNG benchmark vessel and route as it launches a public trial of its first index for the sector today.

The vessel is based on a 160,000-cbm tri-fuel diesel-electric LNG carrier of a maximum 20 years old with a 0.1% boil off rate. The ship’s speed is given at 17 knots.

The Baltic has chosen a round trip voyage -BLNG1 - from Gladstone in Australia to Tokyo, Japan with the ship cold and ready to load.
