BW LNG confirmed in August that it had signed up to convert one of its LNG carriers into a floating storage and regasification unit.
The move comes as shipyards are reporting a slowdown of enquiries for FSRU newbuildings, despite the number of potential projects staying constant.
Brokers and FSRU market movers say there is a perception that the floating regasification sector is overtonnaged at present, after several projects fell through or were hugely delayed leaving vessels without planned employment.
