Japan’s Iino Kaiun, Komaya Shipping and Tabuchi Kaiun are all being tied to orders for LPG carrier newbuildings.
Tokyo-headquartered Iino Kaiun has contracted compatriot shipyard Shin Kurushima Dockyard to build three 1,800-cbm pressurised gas carriers for delivery between February and July 2020.
One shipping source familiar with Iino said the vessels are part of the company’s fleet renewal programme.
The cost of the gas carriers has not been disclosed but the source said the new ships are likely to transport cargoes for Japanese LPG trader Astomos Energy.
