Wartsila has expanded its footprint in the energy storage market with the acquisition of US-based Greensmith Energy Management.
The Finnish shipping and energy solutions provider will take control of the energy storage technology firm no later than July.
Greensmith was founded in 2008 and was responsible for deploying around one third of total US energy storage capacity in 2016.
Javier Cavada, president at Wartsila Energy Solutions, said: “Together with Greensmith we will become a global energy systems integrator.
