A dispute between Greece’s Vafias group and Grand China Logistics is back in court suggesting earlier attempts to settle a row over non-payment of charter hire has unravelled.
Grand China Logistics is facing action over failure to pay $1.9m due to the owner of the 177,000-dwt GCL Argentina (built 2010).
The vessel was bareboat chartered for five years at $19,800 per day but there has been increasing difficulty in collecting hire over a more than three month period.
Harry Vafias has previously told TradeWinds that although there was a delay in paying hire the dispute was settled but lawyers acting for the shipowner have been back in action in New York this week.
