The ailing Korean shipyard cited a series of delays and cancellations for the deficit spiralling to KRW 4 trillion last year from KRW 782bn in 2012.

It pointed the finger at both foreign and domestic yards for the deterioration but singled out its Dalian yard in China for special mention.

On an operating level the loss spiralled to KRW 2.36 trillion from KRW 698bn a year earlier.
