About 200 seafarers employed by Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) have gone on hunger strike over pay and arrears.
The Business Standard reported that the action began on Saturday.
The National Maritime Board had recommended in March 2015 that the state-owned company should increase wages 30%, but this has not happened.
"Arrears have not been paid for over a year now. Neither have wages been revised.
