Troubledtimes in the shipping industry have prompted Rickmers (48) to step down as arepresentative of the SPD, the centre left German social democratic party inthe parliament of the Hamburg city state.
“Giventhe deep and lasting structural and financial crisis in shipping I will focusagain on my role on the board of my group,” declared Rickmers.
Rickmerssaid he was quitting his political roles which include being chairmanof the economic committee of the Hamburg parliament with “great regret.”
