A South Korean insurance company has to pay the Jan de Nul dredging group more than $32m in refund guarantees following the bankruptcy of shipbuilder Asia Heavy Industries.
The Belgian dredger owner ordered three newbuildings from the Huen Woo Steel shipbuilding company at a cost of almost $200m with Meritz Fire and Marine Insurance providing advance payment guarantees.
