NYK has returned to the black in the first half of 2017 free of the writedowns that plagued the shipowner’s results twelve months ago.
Net profit was JPY 6.2bn ($54.8m) versus the huge loss of JPY 231.8bn seen in the corresponding period last year.
Revenues surpassed the JPY 1 trillion mark, against JPY 928bn in 2016, as conditions in the shipping market turned more favourable.
