Japanese shipowning giant MOL has announced a restructuring of shipmanagement and bulker operations as it posted a smaller profit in the third quarter.

The net result to 31 December was JPY 20.09bn ($184.7m), down from JPY 29.22bn in the same period of 2017.

Revenue decreased to JPY 942bn against JPY 1.23 trillion.

The company said it would be restructuring its shipmanagement operation by establishing a marine technical management division, "with the aim of speeding up the establishment of counter-measures and preventative measures for onboard problems and enhance ship maintenance while ensuring the long-term safety and profitability of MOL’s vessel assets."
