Three out of the Doha-based company’s five business segments,including maritime & logistics and offshore, showed an improvement on lastyear.

However its gas and petrochemical division showed only aslight rise in year-on-year profit as its LPG joint venture was hit bycontinued weakness in spot rates, the company said in a statement.

Net earnings came in at QAR 574m ($157.6m) in the six monthsto 30 June against a return of QAR 441m during the same period a year ago.
