MAN Energy Solutions will reduce the number of planned redundancies by 35% in return for concessions related to labour costs.
The marine engine builder, owned by the Volkswagen Group, has agreed to lay off 2,600 employees compared with plans to shed up to 4,000 workers in a restructuring unveiled late last month.
In Germany, 1,650 people will lose their jobs compared with original plans calling for 3,000 redundancies.
