India is set to transfer $6bn to a bank account controlled by Iran in order to settle its oil debts.
New Delhi’s oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the money will be paid to Tehran as soon as a banking channel is created.
India is going to pay in euros at Iran’s request.
The debt comes from previous oil purchases, which took place in euros.
