India's government has signed a loan deal worth $76m with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to upgrade environmental facilities at ship recycling yards in Alang-Sosiya.
The Press Information Bureau reported that the total cost of the project will be $111m.
Of this, $25m in tax and fees will be paid by the state of Gujarat, with $10m coming from the shipping ministry and central government.
