Shipowner Idan Ofer is expanding his interests in the energy industry by making a major acquisition in the US.
His power company, OPC Energy, has agreed to buy the US energy firm Competitive Power Ventures (CPV) in an acquisition valued at $815m.
CPV has built its business around investment in gas-fired power plants and renewable energy.
OPC, in partnership with Israeli investors, is acquiring 100% of the company from US investment fund manager Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).
