The S&P 500 closed at a record high Monday, bringing boxship and bulker stocks along with it.
Many publicly traded shipping companies closed up, with Navios Maritime Partners and Matson leading the way on a dollar basis, jumping $1.15 to $20.83 and $0.66 to $39.63 respectively.
Jefferies analyst Randy Giveans said the performance was down to improving sentiment both across the economy and the industry.
