London-listed Clarksons says Nomura will work alongside existing broker Panmure Gordon.
Nomura was the financial advisor to Clarksons during its $441m merger with RS Platou and the appointment is seen as a natural progression of that partnership.
The Platou deal elevated Clarksons PLC to the FTSE 250 index, placing it in the eye line of a wider investor base.
Shares in Clarksons were changing hands at 2,585 pence today, close to the top of its 52 week range.
