Celsius Shipping will receive financing from ABN Amro for the installation of ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) on several vessels, the Dutch bank said.
ABN Amro said it is the first bank to finance the installation of BWTS. Bart van Veen, associate director at ABN Amro's transportation unit, says the bank is interested in helping its shipowner clients focus on the "sustainability side" of shipping as the industry faces numerous new environmental regulations.
