The Suez Canal has put a troubled 2009 behind it as volumes and revenues surged last year.
The amount collected in tolls by authorities running the strategic waterway was far in excess of other years in the past decade but was also some way off the 2008 record high.
The Suez Canal Authority boasted $4.77bn in toll revenues for the 12 months to the end of December as against $4.29bn
