The Dutch dredging giant will pocket $55m in cash for SmitMarine Australia which owns six tugs and holds the exclusive licence to operatein the port of Gladstone in Queensland.

The deal, which was first agreed in August, is part of astrategic refocus of its towage activities, Boskalis said in a statement.

Shipping activity out of Gladstone is commodity related witha number of LNG terminals under construction and is a better fit with Smit’s oiland gas focus.
