Finnish technology group Wartsila says newbuilding discussions are being dominated by how vessels can be adapted in future for green fuels.
The company’s president of marine power, Roger Holm, told TradeWinds: “What we see is when we talk newbuilds with our customers, in most cases we are discussing how to create enough flexibility.”
“Because everyone understands there is a big challenge that you need to upgrade to greener fuel during the lifetime of the vessel, and that’s the extremely big focus in the market,” he said.
