Keep from making alternative fuel switch 'unrealistic' for seafarers, advocate says

The former captain of the New Orleans port is imploring shipping to remember the seafarer in its alternative fuel push.

Philip Schifflin, the director of the Center for Mariner Advocacy at the Seamen’s Church Institute, said the implementation of the North American Emissions Control Area beginning in 2012 did not go as smoothly as some of the initial studies suggested.
