Crowley Maritime has signed up to the Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative (SRTI), making it the first Jones Act shipowner to do so.
The privately-held Florida company said on Monday that it had become the 13th shipping company globally to join the group, which intends to improve policy, practice and performance around scrapping.
