Florida's Eastern Shipbuilding Group (ESG) has won a contract to build three ferries for New York.
The city's department of transportation wants new Staten Island-Ollis class ships.
The 4,750-gt double-ended vessels will carry up to 4,500 people.
They will also carry a crew of 16.
No price or delivery dates were given by ESG.
